4.When It's Cold
When we get home, the porch lights on
We step inside, next to the iron stove
And Christmas time is about to start
The tree's lit up with all the broken hearts
So all night long we dig to find
Up in the attic where all the boxes hide
The lights and cheer, for another year
And the kids are jumping from the arms of the chairs
But it's cold, outside, and sitting here next to the lights
So let's go out into the ice and snow and wait on the roof until
away we go
Put on our scarves, breath in the cold and just hold on tight
until away we go
When the family comes, we smile and smile some more
The white sand turns into a dirty floor,
It's Christmas time, kids wrestle outside
And the older cousins all smoke and hide
Uncles eat, and watch the TV set
And the waiting dogs are there to steal what's left
It's half a song, then they're moving on
And the sweet tea's got em all singing along
But it's cold, outside, sitting here next to the lights
So let's go out into the ice and snow and wait on the roof until
away we go
Put on our scarves, breath in the cold and just hold on tight
until away we go
