'Snake' the variation
of rhythm sounds needed to match the vocal 'mood swings'!
Everything just seems
to build and buildas each verse takes you through the different
stages of a
'not-so-good' relationship. Well, this was my story a while back
and I'm sure a
few of you can relate!'

'We had a great time doing this one! Mike's untouchable
drumming, my toughest
guitar work yet and Wayne's 'cheesy' violin playing are just
three of the
ingredients that went into making this an Annihilator classic.
Oh yeah, the

'A gentleman invites a lady to his castle for a friendly game of

surprise, she proves to be an excellent opponent with ample
experience in this
field. The game drives hard into the night, where it finally
ends in a draw.
However, it looks like they're both winners in the end, if you
know what I mean!!
This is the first song I'd written (May 1991) for the LP.
Crunchy, driving

'A sad yet humorous narration of an individual's fall into
alcoholism; a road I've
traveled but thankfully got off in time! 'Don't Bother Me'
features Neil's first
musical collaboration with Annihilator as well as an excellent
first solo.'

5.Sounds Good To Me
'Musically, 'Sounds Good' seems to have that patented 'Canadian'
sound. Once
again, I've used 3 types of guitars to keep it interesting. A
lot of feel went
into this one. Daydreams are a way to forget our problems but
can also be far
more important. It's in some of these 'dreams' that we see what
we really want
and, through them,set goals for our future. When I was 13 I
dreamt about being
a guitar player in a band!'

6.Phoenix Rising
'A lot of time, feel and effort went into creating 'Phoenix.'
Most of our songs
seem to all have the common trait of building as each verse
progresses：'Phoenix'
is no exception. Classical and jazz guitars were used but we
felt the need for a
string section as well as some powerful background vocals. We
recorded this one
at a few different studios, and ended up mixing it at Bryan
Adams' home studio.
Based on the Greek myth, 'Phoenix Rising' takes you through the
passing, then
rebirth of a loved one. Their memory lives on forever inside of
us.'

10.The Edge
'Straight ahead with an attitude is how I'd describe this one.
Most Annihilator
compositions take a few days to put together whereas 'The Edge'
was written in
only a few hours. The guitar riffing is quite simple (for once)
which seems to
let the vocals hammer home their 'nothing's going to stop me'
message.'
